For this project I was in a group with Luke (CAD) and Kelsey (Game). This meant that I was the only designer, so had full creative freedom on the design, branding and UI/UX design. For this project, I was nominated to be project manager so was in charge of ensuring that everything was going smoothly and we would be on track for our deadlines.
Above you can see our inital ideas for the project. We started thinking about some home automation systems, but quickly realised it would be hard to tie them into SDG2 (eradication of malnutrition and hunger for all), so had to go back to the drawing board.
We then came up with the idea to create glasses with built in headphones that would read out recipes to you whilst cooking, and would also show a projection of the recipe next to the chopping board. This would be to target people who may not be able to follow a traditional recipe book, due to either disability or having alot of distractions whilst cooking, eg parents.
In order to create a brand identity for Busy Cookin', I first needed to research competitors. I found that most fast food companies use the colour scheme of red and yellow. This was something that I wanted to replicate in my designs, apart from instead of being junk food, its simple and healthy meals that can be made in under 15 minutes. From here, I was then able to create all of my brand assets that you can see below on Procreate.
Part of my role as the designer was to create the UI designs for the touchscreen part of the device. Below you can see both the inital UI ideas and then the final designs that had been adapted based on the lecturers feedback.
On reflection, I am proud of my designs. I was able to adapt the designs based on feedback and am really happy with how the final UI designs have come out.
